IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He Survived: LA Knight Reveals Belief That He Was Almost Fired From WWE
During an interview with Steve Fall for Wrestlingnews.co, former WWE star Nick Dinsmore (better known as Eugene) revealed that he had threatened to quit his WWE developmental deal in 2004 and go to Japan. This earned him a meeting with Vince and Stephanie McMahon, where he pitched the idea for the Eugene character.
Steve Austin happened to walk in at the time and Vince asked if Austin had seen Dinsmore wrestle. Dinsmore mentioned that Austin’s friend “Nightmare” Danny Davis trained him, which caused Austin to say that Dinsmore was “probably one of the best.” Dinsmore made his Monday Night Raw debut soon after.
Dinsmore had quite a remarkable run in WWE. Check out some of his time in the company:
Opinion: This is one of those stories that is rather remarkable when you consider how much of an impact a single sentence from Austin had. Austin praising someone is rare enough and it seems to have given someone else the biggest break of his career. It goes to show you the kind of things that can change everything and you never know what you are going to get in wrestling.
What did you think of Dinsmore’s time in WWE? Who is the most memorable WWE character you have ever seen? Let us know in the comments below.
