Another international foothold. Within the span of a few months, WWE has gone from the undisputed king of wrestling to….ok they’re still the undisputed kings, but now there is someone else getting involved in their world. That would be AEW, who has some international ties of their own. With AEW working with AAA, WWE needs their own partner down in Mexico.
According to Planeta Wrestling, WWE’s worries about the relationship between AEW and AAA has caused them to reach out to CMLL about possibly acquiring their video library. Such a move would be used to help add content to the WWE Network. There is no word on if CMLL would air on the WWE Network, or what this would mean for Ring of Honor’s current deal with CMLL.
You might not be familiar with CMLL. Check out their visit to Ring of Honor:
Opinion: I’m not sure how well something like this would work, but the idea of having more content to pick from on the WWE Network is always a good way to go. There is a lot to pick from with WWE already, but at the same time, going more international can help some better options and bring in some different fans. That is nothing but good for WWE and they could make the money back without much trouble.
