At least it could be worse. Over the summer, WWE brought back its King of the Ring tournament, which had not taken place since back in 2015. The tournament was a who’s who of the WWE midcard, though the semifinals were a little weird. The Monday Night Raw side featured a triple threat, which the SmackDown Live half saw Shane McMahon replace an injured Elias. Now the tournament is over though and we know a little more about Elias’ injury and return.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Elias is scheduled to return to the ring from his ankle injury in late October. When he returns, he is scheduled to feud with Chad Gable, who he mocked with a song on this week’s SmackDown Live. Elias had been forced to leave the King of the Ring tournament due to the injury, though it is not clear when the injury took place.
Consider this a preview. Check out Elias’ song about Gable:
Opinion: That’s not as bad as it could have been as Elias is likely to only miss about two months. That sounds like a long time, but at least it wasn’t upwards of a year or longer with some kind of a serious injury. Elias is someone who seems ready to move up the ladder in WWE but for some reason it never quite clicks. Maybe the next attempt will work better, but you never can tell with him.
What do you expect when Elias gets back? How high can he get on the WWE ladder? Let us know in the comments below.
