The clash of the small titans. Every now and then you get a dream match in wrestling. Sometimes these matches live up to the hype and sometimes they blow the roof off the place. AJ Styles tends to be someone who can take the matches to that second, higher level and if he continues to hold to form, he’s going to be able to do it again with the right opponent.
At Super Show-Down, Daniel Bryan defeated the Miz to become the new #1 contender to the SmackDown World Title, earning a shot at Crown Jewel. Styles was victorious as well, successfully defending his title against Samoa Joe, setting up the title match on November 2. The two of them had a match earlier this year on SmackDown Live, which was interrupted by Shinsuke Nakamura for a disqualification.
The original version:
Opinion: Maybe this is the answer to getting Bryan’s latest run fired up but at the moment, I’m not exactly betting on it. There’s something missing and while it’s not exactly a secret that someone would lose a few steps on their way back from such a long layoff, Bryan hasn’t found the magic yet. At least we’re getting a proper match from these two and that’s a very good thing to have.
