Don’t anger your boss. WWE is a major company but they need some help to make everything work. This includes a variety of networks, with their longest partner being NBC Universal. That is how the company managed to get on USA decades ago and they are still working together today. However, that does not mean everyone involved is happy, which seems to be the case.
This year has been full of stories throughout WWE and one of the more interesting was Paul Heyman being fired as Executive Director of Monday Night Raw. As a result, Monday Night Raw has mainly been under the direction of Bruce Prichard, who is quite different than Heyman in the role. Some fans did not seem to be happy with the change and they are not alone.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Chris McCumber, former President of the USA and SyFy networks, was unhappy with WWE over Heyman losing his authority. Heyman was put in place to bring in a new set of stars to help increase the show’s low audience and ratings. When he was fired, the focus was put back on the established stars who had been featured when the numbers were going down in the first place. McCumber left his role with NBC Universal earlier this week.
Heyman did some great things on Monday Night Raw. Check out some of the people he pushed:
Opinion: WWE might have dodged a bit of a problem here as you don’t want to annoy your bosses. If one of the higher ups at NBC Universal was a Heyman fan, it might not have been the best idea to get rid of him. It’s true that Heyman was not doing so well, but at the end of the day, the boss’ opinion is what matters the most. It doesn’t mean that he is right, but it might not be the best person to upset.
