Does That Make Sense? Daniel Bryan Explains Why He Stopped His Environmental Promos

There’s a reason for that. One of the most entertaining things to see in wrestling is someone turning into a completely different character. There is something special about having a wrestler go from one thing to something else, often in the blink of an eye. Sometimes it works very well and that was the case last year, though something got changed for a specific reason.

One of the biggest surprises of late 2018 was Daniel Bryan turning heel. The character wound up becoming a hardcore environmentalist who talked about how he wanted to save the planet. This was more in line with Bryan’s real life persona, but then it suddenly stopped with almost no mention to the environmentalism. As it turns out, there was a specific reason for things coming to a halt.

Bryan was recent interviewed by My San Antonio and talked about why the environmental based promos came to an end. According to Bryan, WWE told him to stop them entirely because they were seen as a political issue. Bryan tried to argue that they were a scientific issue, though he could not come up with a way to explain the importance from a wrestling perspective.

Opinion: I’m really not sure how WWE can see something like this as a political issue but WWE has a rather different take on a lot of these things. It’s a shame that Bryan was cut off from doing these promos as the character was one of the most unique in a long time. He could have taken it in some interesting directions, but WWE didn’t want to have it that way and ultimately, it’s their call.
