It had to happen eventually. It might not seem possible but AEW has only been around for about eight months. With their first show taking place in May 2019 and Dynamite not debuting until October of that year, there were a lot of things to cover in such a short period of time. While AEW has done quite a bit already, there was something they had yet to cover, but they got it done this week.

As is the case in any wrestling company, titles are what matter most in AEW. The company has done a very good job of making the titles matter with championships being treated as something very important by both commentary and the champions. There are currently three titles on the show but in AEW’s brief history, there had never been a title change. That is no longer the case.

This week on Dynamite, Hangman Page and Kenny Omega defeated SCU to become the new AEW World Tag Team Champions. This is the first title change in the history of the company, as SCU won the inaugural titles by winning a tournament final. There is no word on if there will be any rematch or when Page and Omega will defend their titles for the first time.

Omega and Page work well together. Check out the new champs in action:

Opinion: This is something that makes a lot of sense and I’m curious to see where things are going. Page and Omega aren’t on the same page but they work well together and it opens a variety of doors for the story going forward. AEW’s tag division has been one of the best things going on and I could go for a lot more of their matches, with several of their teams getting to showcase themselves.
