One out of three. Titles are the thing that make the wrestling world go around. There are all kinds of ways to present a title feud but what they all boil down to are who leaves with the gold (or silver in the cases of some Tag Team Titles). Some shows treat them more importantly than others but when you get a major title change, it can feel like a very big deal.

Down in NXT, the Undisputed Era has dominated the promotion for a long time now. They ended last year with every major championship they could win and that makes them as dominant of a force as there has ever been in NXT. Someone has to slow them down at some point, but it’s hard to imagine who could actually do it. As of Wednesday, you don’t have to imagine any longer.

This week on NXT, Keith Lee defeated Roderick Strong to become the new North American Champion. Lee defeated Strong in the main event despite interference from the rest of the Undisputed Era. The win gives Lee his first championship in NXT or WWE in general. Strong won the title from the Velveteen Dream on September 18, 2019. There is no word on if Strong will receive a rematch.

It was a heck of a moment. Check out how the title change came about:

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that had to be done sooner or later. You can only have the Undisputed Era dominate the promotion for so long that someone had to take one of their titles at some point. What matters is things are moving forward and the Undisputed Era is starting to lose just before they overstay their welcome. I’m curious to see where things go from here and that could be rather entertaining.
