That would have been a different way to go. There are a lot of different honors in the wrestling world but only a handful of them last beyond the end of a title reign. That can create a bit of a problem as some wrestlers are going to be forgotten as a result. However, there is one major accolade in WWE that does not go away, which will be coming up soon. It turns out that things have already been changed in a way.
While WWE has dominated the wrestling world for a very long time now, there have been times where the company has been in trouble. One of the biggest of those times took place in the mid to late 1990s when Eric Bischoff’s WCW Monday Nitro had Monday Night Raw in trouble. Bischoff has earned some praise in the wrestling business and it turns out that things were about to be even bigger for him.
Former WWE and WCW star Sean Waltman recently appeared on Busted Open Radio and mentioned being inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the NWO. The group was scheduled to be inducted as part of the Class of 2020, which has been postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. According to Waltman, the original plan called for Bischoff to be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a surprise to both the fans and Bischoff. It was announced earlier this month that Bischoff would be inducted as part of the Class of 2021.
Bischoff has had his moments. Check out what he has done over the years:
Opinion: This would have been a rather cool moment, though in a way I am glad they did not do it. Part of the appeal of the Hall of Fame is to hear the big speech from the inductee. Having Bischoff announced at the show as a surprise would have been a bit of a weird moment, so thankfully everything wound up going a more traditional way. It has worked out well though and hopefully his speech works out well.
