It would have been an interesting move. NXT has grown at an amazing pace over the last few years, going from little more than a web series to a nationally televised show every Wednesday. That is quite the success, as is their international expansion. There has been talk of an NXT India to go with the already established NXT UK, and that means another place for WWE stars to appear. One major name almost went overseas earlier this year.

One of the bigger surprises to take place in NXT in recent memory was the return of Finn Balor. After several years on the main roster, Balor returned to NXT in October 2019 and has since gone on to recapture the NXT Title. Balor is one of a handful of main roster stars to return to NXT, with many of them having some success of their own. It worked so well that NXT UK almost got in on the act.

In a new interview with Metro UK, Kevin Owens revealed that he was considered for a return to NXT in 2019. Had that return been a success, Owens also may have appeared in NXT UK at some point later. Owens did return to NXT in 2019, albeit for one night only as a surprise entrant in the main event at Takeover: WarGames. There is no word on if Owens will head to either NXT in the future. Owens is scheduled to challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Title at Tables, Ladders And Chairs.

It would be a big deal again. Check out Owens’ return to NXT:

Opinion: I really don’t understand why this kind of thing doesn’t happen more often. If a main roster wrestler has nothing going on, why not send them down to NXT for a bit? It boosts NXT, gives the wrestlers something to do, and might even help NXT as well. Balor has had success with this and it boosts him up a bit for whenever he comes back up to Monday Night Raw or SmackDown. Why not see what can be done with the talent available?

What do you think of the idea? Who would you like to see in either NXT? Let us know in the comments below.
