Can you blame them? One of the more eyebrow raising stories of the week was Monday Night Raw drawing the lowest audience in the history of the show. That is the kind of thing that can’t sit well with anyone involved and the focus will soon shift to what can be done about the whole thing. WWE has yet to make any major changes, but now they might have to do so.

During a normal year, WWE has several revenue streams to bring in quite a bit of money. That is the kind of thing that can make them a large fortune, but this year has been anything but normal. With no live events, meaning no ticket sales, limited merchandise sales and nothing else that comes from having fans in attendance, WWE is mainly relying on television contracts to survive. What happens when the network isn’t happy though?

According to TalkSport, the USA Network is “furious” over the number and wants more adult content on the show to draw in a different audience. In this case, they mean more dark and violent content rather than sexual content, though it is not clear what WWE would be doing. January’s Royal Rumble is said to be a huge resetting point for the company. It is not clear how WWE’s sponsors would react to such edgier content.

This is what they seem to want to see. Check out some of WWE’s edgier era:

Opinion: I can’t say I blame USA for being angry. They’re paying millions and millions of dollars and getting less and less for their investment. If they are going to keep paying WWE so much money, they are going to have some say in what happens. Maybe this is the kind of thing that can help boost things up a little bit, but I’ll believe the results when I actually see them.
