Keep Em Coming: Bayley Has A New Challenger For The SmackDown Women’s Title

They needed someone new. There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster but how many of them rarely get a chance? With so people to pick from up and down the roster, it can be hard to imagine finding the right wrestler for the right role. That has been changing a little bit over the last few months though, with names like Drew McIntyre getting a chance to showcase themselves on a big stage. We might have another name to add to the list.

Bayley has dominated the SmackDown Women’s Title scene for a long time, holding the title for all but five days out of nearly the last nine months. She has virtually cleaned out the SmackDown women’s division and that means she is going to need some fresh challengers. WWE can only do that so many times, but they are trying it again with someone who has been to the top before.

This week on SmackDown, Carmella won a fatal four way match to become the new #1 contender to Bayley’s Title. Carmella defeated Naomi, Alexa Bliss and Dana Brooke in the match after a pair of superkicks to Naomi. There is no word on when the title match will take place. Carmella has held the title before, winning it in April 2018 and holding it for about four months.

Opinion: This is a bit of a surprising one but I can appreciate them trying something a little different. Carmella may not be the most successful woman on the roster but she is a former champion and someone the fans will respond to. That is more than most wrestlers can say and maybe the match will work. Bayley has held the title for a long time, so a title change isn’t unthinkable.
