I’d say he has earned it. There are a lot of different kinds of wrestling in the world. Wrestlers from all kinds of different places can offer a wide variety of styles with some of them changing the country it is brought to. In rare cases, certain wrestlers completely change the way wrestling is seen in another part of the world. These people are rare, but when they do come around, it makes sense to treat them with some importance. That is the case now and it’s a big deal.
The Cauliflower Alley Club is an organization that works to honor wrestlers both past and present who have had an impact on the world of professional wrestling. Earlier this week, the Cauliflower Alley Club announced the next recipient of their Lucha Libre Award, which will be given to Rey Mysterio during their 2020 convention from April 27-29. Mysterio will appear at the convention and giving a speech. He will be the second recipient of the award after Blue Demon Jr. in 2018.

I would think Mysterio has a big history. Check out some of his greatest moments:
Opinion: I know Mysterio is a big deal in wrestling but I don’t think he is given enough credit for being such a legend. How many wrestlers today have been influenced by him and the style that he brought to America? His exposure in both ECW and WCW changed the way both wrestlers and wrestling fans looked at lucha libre as Mysterio brought it to the masses for the first time. There were certainly luchadors before him, but few had the kind of impact that he had and he certainly deserves this award. I’m glad he is getting to finish up his career in WWE as he has more than earned it.
