That’s what they decided to cut? There are a lot of people who help put together any given WWE show. Of course the wrestlers are the people who matter most, but they need some help getting ready for what they’re doing in the ring that night. Since there are a lot of former wrestlers who want to stay in the business, several of them stick around and try to help the younger generation. Or at least they did before.
One of the most important things for a wrestler to do is learn from the older generation. The wrestlers who came before them know how to make an impact in the business and have a lot of incite to offer. If they can be there to help the wrestlers and are will to do so, they can help wrestlers in a way that no one else can. However, WWE doesn’t seem interested in that anymore.
Hurricane Helms was recently interviewed by Chris Van Vliet and talked about a change that took place since his time as a wrestler in WWE. Helms talked about how when he wrestled for the company on Monday Night Raw, a veteran wrestler or agent would go over wrestlers’ matches with them the following day. That practice how now stopped, with no explanation being given for the change. Helms returned to WWE as an agent in January 2019 and was furloughed on April 15, along with several other agents.
You might want to listen to him. Check out some of Helms’ interview and some of his time in the company:
Opinion: I’m not sure what the point would be in getting rid of wrestlers talking to agents, as that’s kind of what agents are there for in the first place. I would think that wrestlers would want that kind of critiquing and assistance, if nothing else just for the sake of some fresh eyes. Hopefully it is a policy that is brought back as there isn’t much of a reason to not tap into that wealth of knowledge.
