History has been made! There are a lot of titles in WWE and some of them have been changing around lately. With the upcoming WWE Draft, there are likely to be even more changes on the horizon and that is going to shake things up a bit. Before we get there though, there are a few more things that have to be done first and one of those is a title change.
This week on NXT, Lio Rush defeated Drew Gulak to become the new NXT Cruiserweight Champion. The match was only Rush’s second back since he returned to the company after a five and a half month absence due to backstage issues. This is the first time that the title has been named the NXT Cruiserweight Title, with the name change being first announced on last week’s show.
The match was a good opener. Check out the title change:
Opinion: This makes sense as the title is entering a new era and it follows to have a new champion as a result. There are only so many ways to push someone like Gulak as champion so putting the title on Rush gives them a fresh direction, which is what the title has been needing. Putting it on Rush is something new and that should help them a lot, as would putting things at Full Sail instead of at the regular arenas, though that may not be happening.
Do you like the title change? Will this help the cruiserweights? Let us know in the comments below.
