That doesn’t look good. AEW is one of the biggest wrestling companies in the world in a hurry and that is going rather well for the wrestling world (save for maybe NXT’s audiences). What matters most is that they are getting things done and showing some serious potential for the future. They don’t have a lot of things established yet but what they have done so far has worked well enough. That being said, they also have some obstacles in their way, which is the case with any company. Their most recent is rather common, but it doesn’t make things any better.

One of the major focal points of this week’s Dynamite was a contract signing between Cody and Chris Jericho for their World Title match at Full Gear on November 9. Cody came to the signing alone after taking a long drive to the arena in a limo with Tony Schiavone, who had picked Cody up at the airport. Cody’s brother Dustin Rhodes stayed behind at the airport and was later attacked by the Inner Circle. This resulted in his head denting the back of a limousine, but something else took a more brutal hit.

As announced on his Twitter, Rhodes suffered a broken arm when Jake Hager slammed it in the door of a limousine. Rhodes tweeted a photo of his arm in a cast, saying that he had a radial fracture. The injury and attack were reminiscent of Larry Zbyszko and Arn Anderson attacking Rhodes’ partner Barry Windham at Halloween Havoc 1991, as well as the Four Horsemen attacking Dusty Rhodes in 1986. There is currently no word on if the injury is real or storyline, or how much time Rhodes could be missing.

It was a heck of a moment throughout. Check out the setup and the payoff:

Opinion: Rhodes is one of the most impressive wrestlers I can remember in a very long time as the man just keeps on going. Assuming he is on a regular roster going into 2020, he will have wrestled regularly in five decades, which is going to put him into a very elite grouping. Many wrestlers are lucky to have made it to a fifteen year career and Rhodes is coming up on thirty three. How many other people can say that while also still putting on such quality performances?
