They’re not wasting time. This week’s SmackDown on FOX had some incredible moments with one big deal after another. One of the biggest came at the end of the show when former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez debuted and chased off Brock Lesnar. That would seem to set up a match between the two and now we may know when the match is taking place.
According to F4WOnline.com, Lesnar vs. Velasquez is likely for Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on October 31. There is no word on if the match will be for Lesnar’s WWE Championship or if Velasquez will wrestle before or after the show. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, should the match not take place at Crown Jewel, it would be saved for next year’s WrestleMania instead.
How does this work for a preview? Check out Velasquez’s debut and comments after the show:
Opinion: I’m not sure if I’m surprised by this one or not. It makes sense to strike while the iron is hot but do you really want to put Velasquez out there in that kind of atmosphere with one match under his belt? I have no doubt that Lesnar wins to get his victory back, but how bad of a match could we be in for? Hopefully it gets some time, though I’m not sure how much time would be acceptable for them.
