Oh no bro. To say that the WWE is an up and down business is an understatement. Sometimes you’re on a roll and sometimes you’re barely able to make it onto Main Event. Then sometimes you make it onto WrestleMania in the Kickoff Show battle royal and get lucky to make it onto Main Event. To make matters worse, when you finally do make it onto Main Event, you hurt your knee and there’s no telling how long you might be out for.
Some better times.
According to WWE.com, Zack Ryder suffered a knee injury during his match against Mike Kanellis during this week’s Main Event tapings. At the moment there is no word on the severity of the injury, though Ryder did say that he would be going to Orlando, Florida for an MRI on the injury. Ryder had been scheduled to go to Saudi Arabia to compete in the Greatest Royal Rumble. This isn’t Ryder’s first knee injury as he missed six months with a knee injury between December 2016 and June 2017.
It’s been a long time, but Ryder used to be something special.
Opinion: I know Ryder’s stock is just barely above Abe Knuckleball Schwartz right now but he’s still someone who has a ton of charisma and could be a nice midcard act if WWE would ever give him the chance. That being said, another potentially serious knee injury might be a bit too much for him to come back from. This would be another major injury that could put him on the shelf for months. How long can you stay on the shelf during the better years of your career and still expect to make it work?
