What else is out there? With so many different sports around the world, wrestling is smart to look through as many of them as they can to find their next generation of stars. You never know what sport might have the next big thing and that makes scouting all the more important. Mixed martial arts has tended to be a successful one, but this time things are going in a different direction.
You might not have heard of it, but Major League Wrestling has turned into quite the nice wrestling promotion. They have now run one hundred weekly editions of their Fusion television show and have built up a history with a lot of talented performers. As a result, they have some names who are bigger than others, but one of them is going to try his hand at another sport for the second time.
According to ESPN.com, former Major League Wrestling World Champion Filthy Tom Lawlor is getting back into mixed martial arts as part of the Professional Fighters’ League. This will be Lawlor’s first time back in the sport since 2018. Lawlor has a career record of 10-7 with 1 no contest and spent part of his career in the UFC, where he last fought in 2016. It is not clear what this will mean for his Major League Wrestling commitments.
Lawlor has been a big deal in Major League Wrestling. Check out some of his moments:
Opinion: I’m not sure what this is going to mean for Major League Wrestling but losing Lawlor, even for a little while, would be a pretty hard hit. Lawler has been one of their better heels for a long time now and I’m not sure what it would mean if he was gone. That’s part of the problem with being such a small company though: you might not have the resources to replenish your supply in a situation like this, but it might not be as big of a deal if Lawlor can work for both companies.
Has Lawlor impressed you in Major League Wrestling? Who could replace him in the company? Let us know in the comments below.
