The first of many. AEW is still a relatively new company, at least in comparison to some of the much more established promotions. That means there are several things that they need to do for the first time and it can be fun to see those inaugural events take place. One of them has been scheduled for Double Or Nothing and now we know a lot more of the details about the situation.

As is the case with almost any other wrestling company, AEW focuses a lot of its stories around championships. That is a fine way to go as it is something that has worked for years in every promotion. However, there are only so many titles to go around and it leaves some people out. A new title could help that and as a result, the inaugural TNT Title will be awarded at Double Or Nothing. But who is fighting for it?

This week on Dynamite, Cody and Lance Archer advanced to the finals of the tournament to crown the first ever AEW TNT Champion. Cody defeated Darby Allin to advance while Archer defeated Dustin Rhodes. The match is scheduled to take place on May 23 at Double Or Nothing on pay per view, though a location is currently unknown after the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada was temporarily closed due to the Coronavirus.

They were some intense matches. Check out both of them from this week’s show:

Opinion: This is one of the more logical finals that they could have had and that’s not a bad thing. Cody can now avenge his brother in the finals in a scene that feels like it’s out of Rocky IV, but if Archer wins then it’s going to take a truly amazing fight to get the title away from him. The whole thing has been set up rather well and that’s a good sign going into the finals next month.

How do you expect the match to go? Who will be the first champion? Let us know in the comments below.
