That’s too far. Wrestling is in an interesting place at the moment. With so many sources and means available to find out how things really work in the business, it is harder and harder for wrestlers to get actual heat. It still happens from time to time, but there are instances where things go to an extreme. That seems to be the case with a story that is taking place at the moment.
One of the top stories taking place in WWE is the love triangle, if not a square, between Rusev, Bobby Lashley, Lana and Liv Morgan. The story has gone on for over three months and has found an audience on social media, with fans being interested in all of the twists and turns. However, not everyone is so pleased and are letting the people involved know about it in a rather horrible way.
Both Lana and Lashley have spoken out about the backlash they have received from the story in interviews with TV Insider and Sports Illustrated respectively. Lana spoke about being referred to as “ugly, fat, the worst human” and a “prostitute.” While Lana understands that the story is going to anger some people, she spoke about how there is no need for such levels of cyber bullying. Lashley on the other hand talked about receiving death threats and being called a n*****. The comments come from Lashley and Lana being an interracial couple on television, with Lashley talking about how he has to shrug it off.
This has been a big story. Check out the latest developments from Monday Night Raw:
Opinion: This is one of those things where there is no defending anything being said. It’s true that the point of the angle is to get heat, but there is a difference between heat and threatening to kill someone. I know that’s how things were back in the day, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good thing. I do like that people are getting emotional about a story, though there is a line that can be crossed and it’s behind a lot of these fans. It’s one thing to be angry at heel wrestlers but it’s another to take it into a racial situation, which does not need to happen.
