So long for now. There are a lot of different ways to write a wrestler off of television and some of them are a lot more common than others. One of the easiest methods is to have a wrestler suffer some kind of a storyline injury and have them disappear from television as they recover. That is what WWE has done again, but they did have one more thing to do on the way out.
Last week on Monday Night Raw, Kevin Owens attacked Ezekiel during a match between them and powerbombed him on the apron. The match was stopped and Ezekiel was taken out on a stretcher. This week on Monday Night Raw, commentary announced that Ezekiel had suffered numerous injuries and would be out of action for a significant amount of time. Ezekiel was shown in a hospital bed with his family, including Elias, around him and his father, Ernie Jr., speaking. There is no word on how long Ezekiel will be out of action or who he will be when he returns.
Opinion: That is certainly a way to get Ezekiel off television and that might be the best thing that can be done. At the end of the day, the Ezekiel character was not exactly something that was going to have a long shelf life and WWE got so silly with the whole thing that it is hard to go anywhere with the thing. Now they have a chance to come up with something different, assuming that is what they want to do.
What do you think of the change? How should Ezekiel be repackaged? Let us know in the comments below.
