Is it that much of a jump? We are less than a month removed from Survivor Series, which shook up a lot of things over the NXT and WWE worlds. There were a lot of things going on around the companies over that weekend and some of them made some changes for the future. One of the biggest matches of the weekend saw someone getting a huge elevation, and it might have been the first step down a much longer road.

The big theme of Survivor Sereis was Monday Night Raw vs. SmackDown vs. NXT in a three way battle for brand supremacy. NXT won the competition, capped off in the Survivor Series main event when NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler defeated Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley. It turns out that may be a bigger deal than it seemed.

According to Tom Colohue of Sportskeeda.com, Baszler is a favorite to win the Women’s Royal Rumble in January. Baszler has since lost the NXT Women’s Title to Rhea Ripley, leaving her free to enter the Royal Rumble and move up to the main roster full time. Lynch is also running out of challengers to face her for the title, with Baszler being a possible future option. There is no word on WWE’s plans for Baszler in the future.

They certainly had a showdown. Check out Lynch and Baszler from November:

Shayna Baszler interrupts Becky Lynch’s interview: Raw, Nov. 4, 2019

Opinion: Really, aside from a surprise Ronda Rousey return, who else is going to face Lynch at this show? There is always the chance that Asuka takes the title at the Royal Rumble, but Lynch has been champion for about nine months now and needs a fresh challenger for the title. Baszler vs. Lynch could actually be a dream match, but quite a few steps would have to be taken to get there.

Do you like Baszler to win the Royal Rumble? What would you do for the Women’s Title at WrestleMania? Let us know in the comments below.
