There isn’t much good to this one. Whether you like him or not, Donald Trump has a connection with wrestling. He has hosted two WrestleManias and appeared at several more, including taking part in an angle that drew a lot of money at WrestleMania 23. Trump was later inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame before being elected President of the United States. Now his name is being brought up by a wrestler and not in a good way.
Women’s wrestling has come a long way in recent years. Female wrestlers have gone from little more than eye candy to some of the bigger stars in wrestling. Last year, three women even main evented WrestleMania 35. That is not the kind of thing that you can just erase and the old days feel a lifetime ago. Now, something that happened in the Diva days is coming back and it involves Trump.
Former Divas Champion Eve Torres has posted a message to her Instagram page where she talks about a photo taken with Trump during one of his appearances in WWE. Torres says she felt Trump pulled her in forcefully for the photo in a way that she had rarely experienced before. She goes on to talk about how she believed it was her job to be eye candy at the time and does not like remembering how she felt when the photo was taken. The photo is from the June 22, 2009 Monday Night Raw, when Trump became the new owner of the show.
Torres had quite the career in WWE. Check out some highlights:
Opinion: This is something that is not likely to wind up going anywhere for either side but I can appreciate Torres telling her story. Trump has been accused of similar things before so the statement is hardly out of nowhere. Torres does seem to have moved on from WWE and good for her for finding something else to make her happy. I’m not sure what this would mean for any potential future she might have with WWE, but that might be worth it to her.
What did you think of Torres’ in-ring career? Should she have won more titles? Let us know in the comments below.
