It was a messy situation. Wrestling is a violent sport by definition and there are certain ways to make things even worse. One such thing is an accident taking place, as someone can get hurt in a hurry. Some of these are worse than others though and that was the case last week on AEW Dynamite when Matt Hardy was busted open. It turns out things were a little worse than they seemed.
During last week’s show, Hardy and Sammy Guevara had a brawl which resulted in Guevara grabbing a chair, which he pelted at Hardy’s head. The problem was that Guevara used the wrong chair and Hardy was legitimately busted open in the process. This did not sit well with anyone involved in the situation and there was backstage heat on Guevara. Now we know a bit more about everything.
According to Fightful Select, the situation backstage after the incident was described as “chaotic” as the entire thing did not go as planned. Hardy himself was said to be angry over the situation, which is considered out of character for him. Guevara has apologized for what he did as he apparently did not realize that there were other ways to go about doing the spot rather than what he did.
And yet it could have been worse. Check out what wound up happening:
Opinion: I can’t say I blame anyone for being annoyed at this as it was the kind of thing that could have been a lot worse. At the end of the day, Guevara threw a hard, heavy chair at Hardy’s head. That could have been a much bigger problem than it was and Hardy is lucky to only need a bunch of stitches. Guevara does seem to have just made a mistake, but that isn’t something that should be happening.
