Nice to meet you. NXT has gone through a lot of different identities over the years. The show started as a competition series featuring various rookies (at least to WWE) in strange competition for a future title shot, to the lowest of low level WWE programming on WWE.com, to the hottest and most well received WWE show in several years. For most of its time though, it has served as the official developmental territory of WWE, and that was brought up again this week.

This year has been one of the busiest in wrestling history and one of the stories that could mean quite a bit long term has flown a bit underneath the radar. Back in July, Evolve Wrestling was sold to WWE, allowing WWE the chance to bring in a lot of Evolve names. Some of these are names who were contracted to WWE but were spending some time in Evolve. One of them made their return this week on Monday Night Raw.

During this week’s Monday Night Raw, Arturo Ruas made his main roster debut on Raw Underground. Ruas, who was a seventeen time amateur wrestling champion in Brazil, debuted by defeating an unnamed wrestler in a no ropes fight. Ruas also appeared on last week’s edition of Main Event, losing to Humberto Carrillo. There is no word on what Ruas will be doing on the main roster going forward.

He made an impact. Check out what Ruas did in his debut:

Opinion: I’m not sure what to think of Ruas, but he has a good look and an amateur wrestling background. That alone should be enough to get him a chance on the main roster and that is the kind of thing that WWE may be needing at the moment. The company needs some fresh blood on the main roster at the moment and if Ruas can give them a step up at the moment, good for him.

What do you think of Ruas? Where will he go on the main roster? Let us know in the comments below.
