You have to start somewhere. You hear about a bunch of wrestling training schools over the years. Some of the modern ones are the Team 3D Wrestling Academy in Kissimmee, Florida and the Storm Wrestling Academy in Calgary, dramatic pause, Alberta, Canada. Then there are the older ones though, like the Verne Gagne camp, Stu Hart’s Dungeon, and one more out of Mineola, Florida, which WWE is looking at today.
Some big names have gone through those doors.
In honor of his WXW’s promotion’s 22nd Anniversary Extravaganza, WWE is looking at Afa’s Wild Samoan Training Center. The school has trained a variety of big name wrestlers, including Billy Kidman, Chris Kanyon and the school’s most famous graduate, Batista. The video features Afa talking about the facility with some of his former students commenting on their time there.
Batista has been in the news as well lately. Check out what he’s had to say.
Opinion: There’s something so cool about seeing where a wrestler started like this. We’re so used to seeing them in these big arenas and venues but most of them started in some small place like this, but that’s where everything comes from with these wrestlers. Afa is one of the most successful trainers in wrestling today and that’s the case right here, with some of those names being rather talented in their own right. That started with Afa, who deserves the recognition.
