It’s a way to go. Believe it or not, AEW is still a rather new company. There are several things that they still need to do and some of the new ideas can be used to grow the audience in a big way. With so many moves left to go, AEW could use a lot of ideas to get interest in their show. They seem to be doing just that and now we might be in for some interesting moments.

Last weekend at AEW Double Or Nothing, Cody became the inaugural TNT Champion, adding another singles title to the company’s lineup. This was an interesting way to go as Cody is not allowed to challenge for the AEW World Title so it is a nice consolation prize. However, Cody had plans for the title and is adding in a little twist to the title’s future, which opens some doors.
In his first promo as champion, Cody announced a weekly open challenge for the TNT Title, meaning that he will be defending the championship against anyone who wanted a shot. On Sunday, Cody was asked on Twitter if this included talent who was not part of AEW, with Cody confirming that it was the case. There is no word on who would be challenging Cody from outside of the company.

Cody is trying to make it a big deal. Check out Cody’s response to winning the title and how his first challenger was determined:

Opinion: I’m not sure how well this is going to go, but there is a chance that we could be in for some surprises. Even if it is just a one off appearance, some of these things could be rather entertaining. Now that being said, we aren’t going to be seeing any a-list names and that’s fine. If nothing else, keep in mind that these people are here to put Cody over ala John Cena in 2015. It could be interesting, but we might be in for some people who aren’t all that thrilling at times.
