Back to the old days. The world has been turned upside down by the spread of the Coronavirus and that is the kind of thing that you can’t quite be prepared to see. Almost everyone, including sports television networks, have been trying to find their way out of the situation. With almost no live sports going on, sports television is going elsewhere to see what they can find. That will be the case next week.

Wrestling is a unique sport as it has no off season. That might not be the best thing in the world for the wrestlers, but it is a great thing for the long term fans, as they never run out of things to watch. WWE is right there at the top, as they have more video and footage than any wrestling promotion in history. That is something valuable these days and a company is cashing in on the idea.

According to PWInsider, Fox Sports 1 is looking at WrestleMania 3 on Tuesday, May 12. The four hour block will include a one hour special called WrestleMania Rewind at 7pm EST, followed by a three hour WrestleMania Recall from 8pm-11pm. The Rewind special was available near the launch of the WWE Network and looks back at the build towards the main event of the show. Fox Sports 1 has been airing WWE programming for several months now, including WWE Backstage.

I’m assuming you’ve seen at least part of this show before. Check out a look back at the event:

Opinion: This is more like it. You can only air the same recent shows so many times before they stop meaning much. How big of an audience is there for this much older material? WWE spent a lot of time and money building up the WWE Network at least partially on this concept, so maybe it is worth a try. If nothing else, WWE isn’t likely to run out of material for a VERY long time so see what they can do ratings wise.
