That came out of nowhere. Last week on SmackDown Live, R-Truth brought back the US Open Challenge, where anyone who wanted one could get a United States Title shot on a regular episode of the show. This opens up a bunch of doors for possible challengers as we go forward and as it turns out, there was another Open Challenge taking place on this week’s SmackDown Live.
This week on SmackDown Live, Samoa Joe won the United States Title in a four way match over champion R-Truth and fellow challengers Andrade and Rey Mysterio. Andrade and Mysterio joined what seemed to be a one on one match to make it a four way with Samoa Joe pinning Andrade to win the title. This is Samoa Joe’s first title reign of any kind on the main roster.
Just add a Samoan. Check out how last week’s title match went down:
Opinion: I’m certainly fine with this. Samoa Joe is a big name in WWE who somehow has never won a title outside of NXT. He’s been on the main roster for over two years now and is long past the point where he should have won something. If nothing else, this suggests that WWE still sees the potential in him and if things go well, this could be a very nice title reign indeed.
