The following contains spoilers from tonight’s NXT tapings.

Things keep going through the roof around NXT. With the women’s division not at its strongest at the moment, NXT has announced the return of a former WWE Women’s and Divas Champion to challenge NXT Women’s Champion Asuka at the upcoming “Takeover: Toronto” special.

James is a surprise addition to the roster (though there’s a very strong chance this is a one off match) who hasn’t appeared in WWE since 2010, though she did appear at an NXT house show in 2013. Asuka on the other hand has been one of the most dominant champions in the title’s history, having easily turned away all challengers since winning the title back in April at “Takeover: Dallas”.

This is the best possibly option for the division at the moment. None of the women are ready to face Asuka and I think NXT knows it. Therefore, why waste the fans’ time and interest on a match that has no drama? Instead, they’re bringing James in for a one off match and letting the other women get ready over the next few months. It makes more sense, adds more drama and gives Asuka a more credible win. Everything comes out fine.

Do you like the idea of Mickie James taking on Asuka for the title? Is there anyone else you would like to see come back and make a quick NXT run? Let us know in the comments below.
