Styles recently appeared at Wizard World Columbus where he was asked who he would most like to face at Wrestlemania. After mentioning that he loves wrestling people like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Finn Balor, Styles ultimately chose Shinsuke Nakamura with Balor in a close second. Here are Styles’ comments with transcription courtesy of Wrestlinginc.com:
Have you forgotten what Styles is capable of doing on the biggest stage? Here’s a good example of it from last year’s “Summerslam 2016”:
“I’m picking Shinsuke. Sorry, that’s nothing on Finn Balor. The reason why I say this is because at Wrestlemania, it’s not going to happen with Finn Balor and I. Why? Because he’s on Raw. Shinsuke’s my best chance getting into that Main Event picture at Wrestlemania. That’s why he wins the championship. I hope he wins it so I can get in there and wrestle him at Wrestlemania.”
“I think it’s great that Shinsuke is getting an opportunity to be – I don’t know if it’s going to be main event – but I think it’s cool that it’s going to be one of them. This guy has paid his dues. He’s been in Japan for a long time and he’s so charismatic in everything he does. I’m looking forward to the match just like everyone else.”
Opinion: Honestly, if WWE doesn’t run this match on a major stage, with Wrestlemania possibly being the only stage big enough, I don’t know what to tell them. It’s an actual dream match that has delivered before and would deliver again. Let these two show what they can do on the biggest stage in what would likely be a guaranteed classic.
