He has been here before. AEW only started less than two years ago, which makes their progress all the more impressive. One of the reasons that they have been so successful is the strength of their original lineup. AEW started with some very important people on their payroll and some of them were not even in the ring. Now one of their most experienced names has said something that the roster does not seem to appreciate.

One of the most important hires that AEW made was that of Jim Ross. In addition to being the most important and well known television commentator in modern wrestling, Ross has been around the wrestling industry for over forty years. Throw in the amount of jobs he has had, including being Vice President of Talent Relations for WWE, and I would think he is someone worth listening to. However, that might not be the case due to where he recently said something.

During a recent edition of his Grilling JR podcast, Ross spoke about how he felt too many wrestlers, including those in AEW, do too much in a match. Ross called particular attention to wrestlers standing huddled in one place while another wrestler dives onto them. According to Wrestlingnews.co, various AEW wrestlers say that while Ross made good points, they are not likely to listen to him due to Ross making the statements on his podcast. The criticisms would be considered more acceptable had they been made in private rather than in a public forum.

He might be onto something. Check out some of AEW’s high flying moments:

Opinion: I can see both sides of this, but at the same time, you can only get so annoyed at Ross for saying something that the wrestlers seem to agree with in the first place. Hopefully the wrestlers start to actually follow his advice, because that’s kind of the reason he was brought into the company in the first place. Ross knows a thing or two about this, and just because he said it in public doesn’t make it any less right. A bit rude maybe, but not incorrect.

What do you think of Ross’ comments? How could he have worded them better? Let us know in the comments below.
