I’d call that an honor. Wrestlers are in a weird place when it comes to celebrity status. They are wrestlers, but at the same time there is only so much that they can do outside of that bubble. While it’s true that they are stars in one way, at the same time they are almost always going to be seen as wrestlers. Sometimes this is better than others and that was the case on Saturday.

There are very few wrestlers as controversial as Dolph Ziggler. While a lot of people consider him to be quite the talent, there are others who don’t see much in him. That can become a problem given how often he is on television, but odds are he is going to be in a similar spot most of the time. He was in a different spot on Saturday, with his star power being showcased a bit.

Ziggler was a guest at Saturday’s Arizona Coyotes NHL hockey game against the Washington Capitals. As a result, the team released a special cocktail named after Ziggler called the Ziggler Punch for one night only. This was part of a WWE theme night as next week’s SmackDown will be taking place on Friday February 21. There was a photo opportunity with a WWE Championship as well as WWE features throughout the night.

WWE has an interesting history with hockey. Check out one of their ideas plus some Ziggler:

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that I love to see from wrestling. No it isn’t something that has never been done before or anything that is going to be a huge game changer, but it is something that brings some attention to WWE and treats it like something of note. Maybe it can help build up some fan interest in Friday’s show and bring some new fans into the fold, which WWE could certainly use.

What do you think of Ziggler? What will he be doing at WrestleMania 36? Let us know in the comments below.
