POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD
When watching the Rumble on a yearly basis, one of the biggest surprises for fans are the returning or debuting superstars unexpected to appear.
In recent years with the Internet gaining prominence, some of the surprises have been ‘ruined,’ but there have still been those such as in the case of AJ Styles’ debut with WWE at the ‘Royal Rumble’ event in 2016 when he went undiscovered until he appeared as the third entrant in the Rumble.
As many readers may want to remain unspoiled heading into the match, we ask that if you continue reading you DO NOT comment specifically names that you’ve seen here.
According to PWInsider, wrestling couple The Undertaker and Michelle McCool were both seen in the Philadelphia area on route to the Rumble.
The Undertaker specifically is said to have retired from in-ring competition, last appearing at ‘Raw 25.’ There is the chance that he appears in the match or in some backstage capacity- though there is every chance he is there to watch his wife, McCool.
McCool has been open in saying she is interested in participating in the Women’s Royal Rumble match and WWE appears to have reached out to her for an appearance. With everything coming together, there is every chance McCool is involved in that match.
WOW!!! @WWE women continue to get much deserved opportunities to SHINE! The news of the 1st ever Women’s Royal Rumble match January 28th makes my heart happy! Just sayin’…..my birthday is Jan 25th-what a FLAWLESS gift that’d be! Congrats ladies! ??

Facebook page ‘Wrestling Travel’ uploaded footage of them talking with The Undertaker in Philadelphia. This includes both a picture and short video.
New WWE signings Trevor ‘Ricochet’ Mann and Candice LeRae were both spotted in Philadelphia. While there is every likelihood that both appear in the Rumble matches, we believe Mann may be at NXT for an appearance and LeRae would be there to support her husband Johnny Gargano as he faces Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas for the NXT Championship.
WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels was also seen, though he is retired from the ring and works as a trainer with NXT so there is every chance he may just be in Philadelphia to support the developmental superstars. Keep in mind, though, that Michaels is able to compete as a surprise entrant in the Rumble if he so desires.
Finally, former Impact Wrestling star EC3 was also seen in the Philadelphia area. This is of note as EC3 cancelled an appearance at Renegade Wrestling Revolution on the day of the pay-per-view due to a ‘private family matter,’ though it is clear with him being in the Philadelphia area he may be WWE bound, as we previously reported he was expected to be.
Below we have featured a video showcasing ten of the best surprise Rumble appearances. Check it out!
Who would you most like to see at the event? Do you believe Michaels, LeRae or Mann compete in the Rumble?
