The series is set to premiere January 16 at 10pm EST. It will air weekly and be available to watch on the Facebook Watch platform.

The mixed teams will be revealed on January 4 but WWE has already announced who each team will be represented by.

The ‘Raw’ team will be represented by Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, Alicia Fox, Asuka, Bayley, Braun Strowman, WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore, Finn Balor, Goldust, Nia Jax, Sasha Banks, The Miz and a final superstar to be chosen by the fans.

On the other side, ‘Smackdown Live’ is represented by Becky Lynch, Bobby Roode, Carmella, Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, Smackdown Tag Team Champion Jimmy Uso, Lana, Naomi, Natalya, Rusev, Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura and a final superstar chosen by the fans. This is between all three members of The New Day.

WWE has confirmed that the series of 12 episodes will see the winners of the single-elimination mixed tag team tournament win $100, 000 to support any charity of their choice.

Storylines for the matches are to be built using videos and other content across the various WWE social media pages. Each episode is 20-minute episode will be filmed in the same venue that WWE films the episode of ‘Smackdown Live’ that airs before it. It will rely heavily on fan interaction online.

Variety reported that Facebook has secured exclusive rights to the MMC. They are paying WWE for the distribution rights but WWE will be able to distribute the series as VOD content on the WWE Network after an unspecified amount of time.

The episodes on Facebook will have no commercials or advertisements. Facebook is still testing ad insertion for their live programming. They expect to eventually sell advertising on content that streams on the platform, but there is no word yet on when that will begin.

MMC will have a fresh look and feel as other shows have. The show will also use bright graphics and 360-degree video.
