WWE will not go forward with signing former Ring of Honor talent Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards, reports The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The report claims the decision is ultimately coming from Triple H.

The newsletter claims that while Richards and Edwards were impressive in their NXT tryout and were well-liked in the company, Triple H believes WWE does not need any more small guys as he feels there are plenty to go around. Many officials had gone to bat for the two, but this proved to be insignificant for the man at the top.

Edwards and Richards, known as “The American Wolves” during their time on the independent circuit, made their NXT debut on the Dec. 18 edition of the show, losing to “The Ascension” in a tag title bout. They wrestled under name “The American Pitbulls” in the loss.

While the pair reportedly impressed in their match, it was at this time that Triple H decided not to offer them a contract with WWE.
