In a reportedly recent post on Twitter, Jeff Hardy teases a return to WWE. Hardy, who is currently employed by TNA Wrestling, supposedly updated both his Twitter and Instagram accounts with the same message on Dec. 30, claiming that the 2014 “WWE Royal Rumble” will be worth watching, and that the “enigma” will be returning.

Many people claim that Hardy updated his social media sites with this message on Monday night,

Hardy’s wife would later update her Twitter account following the massive outbreak of the “tweet” above with a message in regards to the “tease” saying,

Hardy is currently under contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, and has been since 2010. His reportedly locked into his current contract with the company until 2015, although Hardy “walked out” on TNA Wrestling during the Dec. 26 edition of “IMPACT WRESTLING.” Hardy’s act of abandon during “IMPACT” is said to be nothing more than storyline, as TNA will soon be heading overseas, and Hardy cannot leave the country to join them. His departure from the program is said to merely be a way of explaining his absence from the product until TNA returns to Florida in 2014 to begin filming “IMPACT” once again.

Hardy posting a “teaser tweet” like the one above could have been a way to play his fans into believing this storyline, but the tweet itself could be a hoax. Many people say that they read the message via Hardy’s official Twitter and Instagram pages, even though his wife claims the tweet is a fake. However, his worked “walk out” on TNA television is supposed to blur the lines of entertainment and reality, and having fans believe that Hardy is returning to WWE would be a great way for them to bite on this preverbal fishhook.

When both AJ Styles and Hulk Hogan’s TNA contracts ran out, the company had both men “walk out” on the company in order to explain their circumstance, and TNA reportedly believes that using the same angle with Hardy will convince their viewers that Hardy has indeed left the company, as the other two men have recently done. The former TNA World Heavyweight Champion is expected to still perform for TNA until 2015 however.

The message began to spread throughout Twitter and Facebook Monday night, just as most wrestling fans were watching an episode of WWE “Monday Night Raw” and sub sequentially, very active on social media. As the company gears up for their annual “Royal Rumble” event, lots of internet speculation begins to swirl about who WWE will ask to be “surprise entrants” in their thirty-man Royal Rumble Match.

Each year the company brings in former stars, champions, and legends to appear in the marquee battle royal as crowd pleasers for the audience watching in the arena and at home. As the event gets closer to air, internet wrestling fans search high and low on information on who these surprise entrants will be before the event actually takes place.

Whether or not the tease is real or not, the tweet has the Internet Wrestling Community a buzz. Did Hardy actually send this message out to his fans, or did someone create a fake tweet just to stir the IWC pot just before 2013 comes to a close? The verdict is still out.
