Many will recall back in June, WWE released a plethora of talent it was rarely or no longer using in a prominent role, shaking the grounds of the wrestling world. The failure to get strong WWE Network subscription numbers alongside decreased pay-per-view revenue was cited as some of the reason for the releases.

According to a new report from PWInsider, there may be more releases on the way.

The outlet claims with WWE’s latest earnings call happening this upcoming Thursday, there is potential for some budget cuts. Since WWE is a publicly-traded company, there is pressure from investors to ensure the budget is being set correctly, and one of the ways WWE can counteract that is by releasing talent.

Guys like Zack Ryder, who have sat dormant on television for some time, could be in this crop of stars. Ryder even Tweeted Tuesday night, noting how his Internet Championship was in “WWE 2K15” but he was not.

The company recently released longtime ring announcer Justin Roberts, with cutting costs seen as the reason why.

Stay with Wrestling Rumors following Thursday’s earnings report to find out more.

Editor’s Note

You hope another Black Thursday won’t roll around, but it wouldn’t be all that surprising, unfortunately.
