WWE Network sales have not exactly been at the standard the company had hoped for them to be when it launched back in February. But even as the company aims to get more and more content on the network, there appears to be some push-back from some big names.

Emmanuel Lemelson of Lemelson Capital, which was an investor in the company in the early parts of the year, has called out Vince McMahon and the concept of the new medium in a new article from the New York Post.

“‘He really needs a professional CEO,’ said Emmanuel Lemelson of Lemelson Capital.”

He would go on to add it was due to his relationship with his cable partners the network was failing.

“’The model itself is the problem,’ he says. ‘Collaborating with your partners is always the right decision. Offending them is not.’”

Lemelson has called for McMahon to sell the company and get out of the business, now that the company is public. In the most recent edition of  “Monday Night Wars” on the WWE Network, WWE details how its involvement with celebrities in mainstream media allowed for it to go public in the first place during the height of the Attitude Era.

It is estimated the company will need 2.5 million subscribers in order to turn the profit it expected to off the network. The article notes it’s possible the subscription total could fall beneath 500,000 from the reported 731,000 number in September. Should it do so, the company could be looking at losses of up to $10 million and eventually, more budget cuts.

Editor’s Note

It’s a revolutionary idea…one that could change it all. But it needs to deliver.
