While Goldberg has now had multiple matches since his return to WWE, neither of them lasted long enough to offer much of a showcase for the former WCW star. That may change at Fastlane. (Maybe.)
As previously reported, the current plan for WrestleMania includes Goldberg as Universal Champion being challenged by Brock Lesnar. Goldberg is expected to defeat Kevin Owens at Fastlane for the title.
Whether that will be a squash or not remains up in the air. With WWE having elected to have Goldberg defeat Lesnar in a mere two minutes at Survivor Series, it’s entirely possible that the part-timer will run down Owens just as easily–though that’s pure speculation on my part.
Wrestling Observer (subscription required) also reports that Roman Reigns will take on Braun Strowman at the show, and Sami Zayn will challenge Chris Jericho for the United States Championship. Another rematch of Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. Sheamus & Cesaro is also projected, though it’s possible another team could be added–unless WWE wants to save a multi-team match for WrestleMania.
Charlotte will also likely get one more win before her WrestleMania match, though the opponent for Fastlane is yet to be decided–likely either Bayley or Nia Jax. Neville will also have a title defense, likely against Cedric Alexander or Rich Swann (assuming his injury is a temporary one).
