You might just get your wish. Over the years, a lot of WWE fans have expressed issues over Michael Cole’s commentary. Cole has been with the company for almost twenty years and has been the lead commentator on “Monday Night Raw” since 2008 after a nine year run as the lead commentator for “Smackdown”. However, Cole’s time on camera might be coming to an end.

According to PWInsider Elite by way of Wrestlinginc.com, Cole is considering moving to a behind the scenes role in production work and grooming new on-air announcers, such as Nigel McGuinness. Cole, who turned 48 in December, hasn’t given a date for leaving and of course things could change, but it’s been discussed more often lately than any other time.

I’ve always felt sorry for Cole. What so many people overlook is the fact that a lot of what he’s saying is being dictated to him by Vince McMahon. It’s not a case of bringing in any given commentator to replace him because whoever is there is at McMahon’s whim. Cole actually does an outstanding job handling all those responsibilities and is a perfectly acceptable commentator.
