The Superstar Shakeup isn’t the only thing shaking up the superstars of Raw. One third of Monday night’s most prolific tag team looks to be out of action for some time.

WWE.com reports that Kofi Kingston has suffered an ankle injury, which will require surgery putting the star out of action for several weeks.

The story paints it that Kingston’s injury is a result of the Revival’s attack last week, but it seems likely that the storyline reason is being used to justify a real-life surgery behind the scenes.

“During the attack by The Revival, Kofi injured his right ankle and heard a crack, and was unable to put weight on his leg following the attack,” reads the official article. “Further evaluation and an MRI revealed that the attack had caused fragments of bone to break off the ankle bone (talus), requiring arthroscopic surgery to remove the bone chips from the damaged joint.”

NXT viewers know how much the Revival hate their opponents’ legs.

The New Day is expected to transition to SmackDown this week, but we’re not sure if Kofi’s surgery will have any effect on those plans. Xavier Woods and Big E can probably hold it down until Kingston returns.
