In a new article written by legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter, WWE teases a future run with Sting. As we’ve previously reported, Sting may have signed WWE Legends contract, or he may still be negotiating terms with WWE officials, as there are conflicting reports on the matter. Regardless, it seems as if Sting’s first run with the company may come to fruition soon.
While annual rumors claiming Sting is heading to WWE seem to emerge at the beginning of each year, 2014 looks to be the most promising year for this story to stop existing as speculation, and begin being real. Reports claim that WWE is creating Sting merchandise under the moniker, “A Man Called Sting,” which is a trademarked phrase they purchased under the acquisition of World Championship Wrestling.
The exposé penned by Apter is currently featured on WWE.com and is entitled, “Behind the Paint of Sports-Entertainment Icon Sting.” While the article takes a look at Sting’s presence in-and-out of the ring, his role as a locker room leader, and his connection with his fans over the last 25 years, the last paragraph is what provides a tease that Sting may be heading to WWE for one final run after all.
Apter writes,
“More than 25 years since he became a good guy, Sting is still a presence in the ring, as well as at numerous charity events. He’s a true legend with a constant drive to always be one step better than the day before. His best days may still be yet to come.”
