As we previously reported, Vince McMahon is interested in buying Newcastle United FC, a football club currently playing in the English Premier League, from its owner, Mike Ashley. As of this writing, Newcastle United is ranked ninth in the English Premier League with a record of 11 wins, four draws, and 11 losses.

However, today, Tuesday, Feb. 18, the previous reports have been put down and contradicted by F4WOnline in addition to Sporting News. F4WOnline is reporting that there is said to be nothing in regards to the rumor, as Vince McMahon and WWE have no interest in purchasing the club.

Sporting News’ Jon Arnold also published a report, stating that the previous reports, which originated from Winnersports.co.uk, were false. A source from WWE told Sporting News, “That’s completely false” regarding the rumors.

This is not the first time that Vince McMahon was reportedly interested in buying Newcastle United as similar rumors made rounds in 2011. However, the football club quickly shot down the rumors of a purchase being in the works. Unlike the 2011 rumors, in the most recent rumor on the situation, it was indicated that McMahon was also interested in staging wrestling events of some kind at St. James’ Park, the club’s arena.
