PWInsider.com has provided an update on the report that claimed WWE had released CM Punk.

The site recently reported that Punk was granted a release from his WWE contract on Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day. However, other websites and reporters, including F4Wonline.com‘s Dave Meltzer, took to the internet to squash this rumor almost as quickly as it began. PWInsider.com has now disclosed that Punk has not been released, and that all the talk of his official termination from WWE was merely speculation.

PWInsider.com‘s new report claims that the latest swarm of Punk/WWE rumors started backstage after everyone had learned that Punk’s girlfriend, WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee, had been given a number of days off. Many people backstage knew that Lee was going to be heading to Chicago to spend time with Punk, and were merely speculating that AJ had now left because of Punk’s dismissal.

The report does state that both Lee and Punk are still under contract with the company and that any talk of either superstar being released is just that; talk.
