WWE officials are said to be very happy with Titus O’Neil at this time, reports WrestleZone.com.

According to the report, O’Neil had been begging creative for some time to allow him to go forward with a singles push as a heel, as he felt he had what it takes to be a major player in WWE. He had pitched a feud with Darren Young to start, and begged Vince McMahon to give him a chance at a singles run.

Wrestlezone says that a member of the WWE creative team told them that Vince recently approached them about giving O’Neil a chance, saying, “Titus O’Neil gets an opportunity, sink or swim.”

The word is that officials were very receptive to the promo that he cut on “Monday Night Raw” Monday evening. Renee Young interviewed him about his upcoming match at Elimination Chamber with his former tag team partner, and O’Neil exploded with emotion and promoted himself as a future champion.

O’Neil is 36 years old and has spent the majority of his run thus far in a tag team. The Miami Herald recently took a look at his success thus far in transitioning from football to wrestling.
