Multiple sources are reporting that Vince McMahon wanted “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes to compete at Battleground. Due to his age and endurance however, Rhodes will not be participating in the match, but will be at ringside as his sons Cody Rhodes and Goldust fight for their careers against WWE Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns of The Shield.

As we previously reported, Creative’s original plans for WWE Battleground included a six-man tag team match with both Dusty Rhodes and Dean Ambrose taking part in the current match-up. With the announcement of the current match being booked the way it is during Monday Night Raw, it’s clear to see that the majority of the WWE felt “The American Dream” did not need to compete, although the CEO of the company really would have liked him in the ring.
