Vince McMahon Encouraged the Paul Heyman and Ryback "Proposal" Angle

On the September 30th edition of Monday Night Raw, Paul Heyman “proposed” to Ryback. The proposal was that Ryback would be a Paul Heyman guy, but throughout the night, it seemed as if Heyman was romantically infatuated with Ryback and may propose marriage to him.

Heyman was “awestruck” by Ryback at Night of Champions, when the big man took out CM Punk through a table and provided Heyman the opportunity to pin the “Best in the World.” The next night on RAW, Heyman and Ryback engaged in an awkward kiss, which led up to the proposal from Heyman.

Vince McMahon wanted a segment with intrigue and “shock value” to take place on the program Monday, as part of his desire for RAW during the fall is to have it be very interesting so that they take fans away from ESPN’s Monday Night Football. The Wrestling Observer reports an unnamed creative writer then came up with teasing Heyman asking Ryback his hand in marriage, and McMahon loved it.
