The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided an update on Sting’s upcoming WWE run. As previously reported, the former WCW and TNA World Heavyweight Champion debuted for WWE at the 2014 “Survivor Series” PPV, was the game-changer during the main event of the show, and will compete in at least one match for the company in 2015.
Sting would help Team Cena eliminate The Authority from power, Scorpion Death Dropping Triple H straight to hell before putting Dolph Ziggler atop Seth Rollins for the one, two, three. Sting’s involvement with this storyline is said to be leading to a Triple H vs. Sting bout at WrestleMania 31, which may be his only match ever under the WWE banner.
However, WWE officials have discussed having Sting work more than one match, also working Rollins at some point in 2015 due to his personal problems with what Sting did to him and Team Authority at “Survivor Series.” Each week, WWE has Rollins remind the WWE Universe that “The Vigilante Sting” (which is the description WWE makes their announcers, commentators, and talent use for the Icon now) put The Authority out of power and has to pay. This is so there is a fresh bone that Rollins has to pick with Sting should their paths cross in early 2015.
As of this writing, Sting is NOT expected to be an entrant in the 28th annual Royal Rumble Match on Jan. 25. He may appear during the “Royal Rumble” PPV, but he is not expected to be a surprise entrant in the 30-man Over-the-Top-Rope Battle Royal.
Editor’s Note:
I would love to see Sting in the rafters at the end of “Royal Rumble” or “RAW” within the next few weeks.
